When did the first one stop? New official heatwave on its way

SINT MAARTEN/THE NETHERLANDS – The Netherlands is set to be hit by the second heat wave this summer with temperatures expected to top 30 degrees on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, weather forecasters said on Wednesday.

For a heatwave to be official in the Netherlands, the temperature must be above 25 degrees at the De Bilt weather station near Hilversum for five consecutive days, of which three must be over 30 degrees.

The KNMI said the temperature had topped 30 degrees in De Bilt on Monday and has been above 25 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, making a second heatwave very likely.

The hot weather is set to last until at least Wednesday next week, but the picture is less clear after that, the KNMI said. Nevertheless, there is an 80% chance it will remain dry and warm. (DutchNews)
