SINT MAARTEN/THE NETHERLANDS – Amsterdam police have arrested a 32-year-old man who is thought to have stabbed three people in the west of the city on Tuesday night, apparently after they refused to hand over their vehicles.

All three were attacked on the Jan Evertsentraat in Amsterdam West. The first attack took place at around 11 when the suspect, who comes from Apeldoorn, jumped in front of a scooter and demanded the driver hand it over.

He refused to cooperate and was stabbed. The second victim was also a scooter driver who refused to give the keys to the suspect. The third victim was driving a car when the man jumped in front of him.

The victim got out of the car and was stabbed as well, at which point the suspect ran off. The police were able to pick up the suspect after looking at live surveillance camera footage.

According to the Parool, he is ‘known to the police’, which implies he has a criminal record. Police have also recovered the knife used to attack all three victims, the paper said.

According to the Telegraaf, the first and third victims were taken to hospital for treatment while the second drove himself there on his scooter. Police are appealing for witnesses. (DutchNews)
