SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY-AIRPORT) - On Saturday October 6th, 2018 two male suspects arriving on an Air Caribe flight from Orly France were arrested by members of the Alpha Team operating at the Princes Juliana International Airport, police said in a statement on Wednesday.

Both passengers identified with initials M.D.E.K. (27) and M.A.D. (20) were subjected to additional inspection than regularly after a member of the Alpha Team noticed their suspicious behavior at the immigration check point, the police report added.

During the inspection of both passengers both of them had what turned out to be in possession of false ATM- and Credit Cards. Neither of them could give the investigating officers a clear and acceptable explanation to whom the ATM- and Credit Cards belonged to and why these cards were in their possession.

Based on the suspicion that these ATM- and Credit Cards would be used to skim cash from the local ATM- machines both, suspects were arrested and taken to the Police Headquarters in Philipsburg for further questioning and remain in custody for further investigation. (Sint Maarten Police Force)
