Male suspect arrested by Alpha Team at airport using false travel documents

SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY) - The Alpha Team operating at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) consisting of members of the Royal Marechaussee and members of the Police Force of Sint Maarten on Thursday September 13th at approximately 9.55 a.m. arrested a male suspect in the departure hall of the PJIA, police said in a statement on Thursday evening. The arrest took place during a control by members of the Alpha Team.

During this control, the suspect identified with initials R.J. (37) intended to board a flight to Haiti using a passport which was false.

“The identification card and drivers’ license which he had in his possession were also false. The suspect was taken to the Philipsburg Headquarters and detained for questioning and further investigation,” the police statement concludes. (Sint Maarten Police Force)
