A dry and dusty airmass spreading across the region will account for limited showers and reduced visibility across the local area. Persons with allergies/respiratory illnesses should take the necessary precautions. 

The building Atlantic high-pressure system will account for brisk winds, producing seas peaking up to 8 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution. 

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to rough      WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 8 feet  

   

SPECIAL FEATURE: 
At 5 PM, Victor was downgraded to a tropical depression and is located about 1700 miles away from St. Maarten in the eastern Atlantic. This system is expected to dissipate in the next few days. According to its current forecast track, Tropical Depression Victor poses no threat to St. Maarten. Consequently, this is the final update on the system.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the Atlantic and update the public accordingly.

1. At 5:00 pm, Tropical Storm Victor was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic about 1965 miles southeast of St. Maarten. Victor is moving towards the west northwest at 13 mph and does not pose a threat to St. Maarten.  

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the Atlantic and update the public accordingly.

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
1. At 5:00 pm, the center of major Hurricane Sam was located about 410 miles north northeast of St. Maarten with maximum sustained winds near 145 mph.
On its current forecast track, Sam will continue to move further from St. Maarten, toward the northwest near 14 mph. 

  1. At 5:00 pm, the center of Tropical Storm Victor was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic about 2285 miles southeast of St. Maarten. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 with higher gusts.
    This system poses no threat to St. Maarten. 

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor these systems and update the public accordingly.

SYNOPSIS:   

Daytime heating along with light winds may cause isolated showers and slight chance of thunder across the local area. 

Long period swells with seas peaking near 10 feet caused by major Hurricane Sam will maintain hazardous sea conditions. Therefore, high surf and small craft advisories remain in effect for St. Maarten. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise extreme caution. 

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to rough     
WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 10 feet  

   

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
1. At 5:00pm, the center of major Hurricane Sam was located about 390 miles east-northeast of St. Maarten with maximum sustained winds are near 130 mph. On its forecast track, Sam is predicted to pass about 350 miles northeast at its closest point to St. Maarten, overnight into Thursday. 

  1. Tropical Storm Victor formed in the far eastern Atlantic at 5:00pm, with its center located about 2615 miles east-southeast of St. Maarten. Victor is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph, and poses no threat to St. Maarten.

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor these systems and update the public accordingly.

Seas peaking near 10 feet as well as long period swells caused by major Hurricane Sam is generating hazardous sea conditions. Therefore, high surf and small craft advisories are in effect for St. Maarten. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise extreme caution.

SPECIAL FEATURE: 
At 5:00pm, the center of major Hurricane Sam was located about 530 miles east of St. Maarten. Sam is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 130 mph with higher gusts.   

On its current forecast track, the center of hurricane Sam is predicted to pass about 330 miles northeast at its closest point to St. Maarten, early Thursday. 

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor this system and update the public accordingly.
