SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance will host the 4th Edition of the Chef Competition on February 12, as part of the SXM Lagoon Festival, a collaborative initiative between The Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance, Palapa Marina, Skyport Marina, and IGY – Isle de Sol Marina. The festival is designed to create a vibrant atmosphere throughout the Simpson Bay Lagoon while encouraging yachts and visitors to experience and extend their stay on the island during the peak season.
The Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance will kick off the festival with a full day of activities in its Oasis Garden, beginning with the Chef Competition at 9:00 AM, followed by the Soca & Rum Kick-Off Party at 7:00 PM.
This year’s Chef Competition will feature six competitors, including three local chefs and three yacht chefs, competing head-to-head in three intense rounds: Appetizer, Main Course, and Dessert. In each round, chefs will be challenged with a mystery box containing surprise ingredients that must be incorporated into their dishes. As the competition heats up, two chefs will be eliminated after each round, raising the stakes as participants battle their way toward the final title. The competition continues to be a crowd favorite, celebrating culinary creativity while strengthening the connection between the local and yachting communities.
The Yacht Club is proud to welcome Président as the Title Sponsor for this year’s edition. With its wide range of premium products, Président perfectly complements the Chef Competition by providing chefs with high-quality ingredients to elevate their dishes. The Yacht Club looks forward to a successful partnership and an exceptional culinary showcase.
The organizers are also pleased to continue their long-standing partnerships with Prime Distributor powered by CC1 and EZshop and PDG, who are supporting the Chef Competition for the fourth consecutive year. Their continued belief in the event and recognition of its potential have played a crucial role in its growth. This year, the festival is also pleased to welcome Nowhere Special as the Title Sponsor of the VIP Area, where VIP guests will have the exclusive opportunity to taste each dish created by the competing chefs throughout the competition.
Speaking on the upcoming event, Ms. Sharrita Mills, Director of Sales & Marketing at The Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance, stated:
“The Chef Competition has become a signature event that brings together local culinary talent, yacht chefs, and the wider community. Being part of the SXM Lagoon Festival allows us to showcase the vibrant energy of the lagoon while creating a memorable experience for both residents and visitors. We are grateful to our partners and sponsors who continue to believe in this event and help us elevate it each year.”
