Court meeting decides on nomination of President

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Court meeting took place today, Friday, February 6, 2026, in which the nomination of the selection committee for the President was discussed and the vote took place.
On the basis of this vote, the board will, in accordance with the provisions of the Kingdom Law, recommend Sigmar Carmelia in writing to the Ministers of Justice of the four countries.
The ministers then make a nomination for appointment to the Kingdom Council of Ministers. The Kingdom Council of Ministers (i.e. including the ministers plenipotentiary of the three countries) decides on this nomination of the President.
After this, it will be announced who will be the new President. The nomination is expected to be discussed by the Kingdom Council of Ministers before the summer.
