Police Force Issues Guidelines for Carnival Grand Parade

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) is gearing up for the anticipated Carnival Grand Parade scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024. The parade will kick off at 10:00 AM, commencing from the entrance of St. John's Estate along L.B. Scott Road and culminating at the Festival Village on Soualiga Road.

In preparation for this event, the KPSM would like to remind all participants and attendees of certain regulations aimed at ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all involved. As part of these measures, we urge vendors to refrain from selling alcohol in bottles and to minors.

Consumption of alcohol in a responsible manner is encouraged.

Moreover, in the interest of public safety, individuals found in possession of weapons or firearms will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law. We emphasize the importance of compliance with directives provided by police officers to ensure a secure environment for everyone.

Following productive discussions with the Carnival Committee, it has been mutually agreed upon that participants in the parade, as well as any other parades throughout the carnival season, are strictly prohibited from accessing the rooftops of trailers. This decision underscores our commitment to maintaining safety standards during the festivities.

The Sint Maarten Police Force extends its gratitude to the Carnival Committee and the community for their cooperation in upholding these regulations, which are designed to promote a joyful and secure Carnival experience for all.
