German students from Manneheim conclude their internship with the American University of Integrative Sciences of St. Maarten

COLE BAY - Five university students from the University of Applied Labor Studies, Manneheim, Germany are presently concluding a four week internship period of research and project development at the American University of Integrative Sciences of St. Maarten, ( AUIS).
The students are currently in their second year of university concentrating on Labour Market management and chose the option to do an internship overseas after receiving an invitation from AUIS.
The interns were involved in conducting desk studies at AUIS, research and interviews with key persons, business and government agencies. The President of AUIS Dr. Renu Agnihotri, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AUIS Mr. Milo Pinckney, requested a focused research and reporting on the issues related to the development of a curriculum for a course titled "the business of medicine" as well as encouraged the interns to broaden their knowledge by conducting a comparative study about employment policies and practices in St. Maarten in comparison to an industrialized country like Germany and the United States.
The interns had the opportunity to conduct interviews with the CEO of LinQ - Ms. Ginger De Windt and staff, the Interim President of the University of St. Maarten, Dr. Francio Gaudeloupe and the head of the policy department of Labour, Mr. Rafael Boasman and Ms. Linda Froston, staff members and instructors of AUIS, the Educational and Public Policy Advisor of AUIS, Mrs. Patricia Lourens as well as the CEO and President of AUIS.
The interns described their internship period and experiences on St. Maarten as very enlightening and rewarding and were also able enjoy the social, entertainment and cultural activities while here.
The President and CEO of AUIS look forward to continuing this relationship not only with the University of Applied Labour studies Germany but also with other universities in Europe , Canada and the United States and the Caribbean.
