BONAIRE - The Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS) and the Public Entity of Bonaire (Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire, OLB) will enter into a cooperation to improve the provision of data for the benefit of local policy.
OLB has asked CBS to participate in the development of policy-relevant indicators with which the implementation of the local governance program can be monitored in a number of policy areas such as socio-economic development, housing market and tourism.
The government program 2019-2023 'From all of us, through us all and for us all' deals with topics that are important for Bonaire such as socio-economic development, opportunities for everyone through education and sustainable economic development.
This program also connects to the administrative agreement that the island government signed with the central government in 2018.
'By assisting the Public Entity of Bonaire in setting up a data facility, the possibilities for using the statistical information from CBS and the information available at OLB can be increased', according to Sylvia Kok-de Vries. This way, local data can be used even more by OLB for important policy decisions in the future.
The cooperation was confirmed on Monday, February 10th at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, which provided funding for this to OLB in the context of strengthening the executive force on Bonaire. The agreement was signed by deputy Elvis Tjin Asjoe on behalf of OLB and on behalf of CBS by deputy director Sylvia Kok-de Vries.
