WEATHER:  

Tonight through Sunday morning: Cloudy with brief isolated showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms.
Sunday midday through evening: Partly cloudy and slightly hazy.

SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Sunday evening: Southeasterly with a gentle to moderate breeze of 08 to 18 mph, and higher gusts possible.

SYNOPSIS:  

Moisture and instability trailing Tropical storm Jerry, in addition to a warm southeasterly wind flow, will account for isolated showers and possible isolated thunderstorms across the local area.

A small craft advisory is in effect for St. Maarten as above normal seas will remain across the local area. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise extreme caution.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to rough         WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 9 feet

SPECIAL FEATURES: 

1. A fast moving tropical wave located several hundred miles east of the Windward Islands is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms. The system is currently disorganized, gradual development is anticipated and a tropical depression could form later this weekend or early next week.

Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent.

Formation chance through 5 days...medium...60 percent.

2. A tropical wave is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa by tomorrow. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for development, and a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form early next week while the wave moves westward across the eastern tropical Atlantic.

Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent.

Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent.

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of these systems and update the public accordingly.
