Soccer Games at Johan Cruijff Court continues on February 28.

BELVEDERE – Here are the results of the St. Maarten Soccer Educational Foundation (SMSEF) games that were held on Saturday, February 21 at the Johan Cruijff Court in Belvedere.

Game 1: Category 11+U

Leonald Connor vs Sr. Regina United: result 10 - 0 (at halftime 5 - 0)

Top scorer Leonald Connor: Tyrese Whyte with 7 goals and 1 assist. Tyrese scored 5 goals in the first half. Raphael Coco-Belliard was instrumental in getting the score going with 2 assists early in the game. Raphael scored a goal in the second half as well. Sr. Regina United was only able to field the minimum required 4 players versus a full Leonald Connor squad. The team put-up a good fight but was unable to keep up with the pace set by Leonald Connor with no fresh legs available to catch a breather.

Game 2: Category 11+U

Learning Unlimited Legends vs Sr. Magda FC: official result 0 - 2: (forfeit Learning Unlimited)

Learning Unlimited did not have enough players to start.  A friendly game was played instead.  Learning Unlimited did end the game with a complete squad. The result of the friendly was a 2 – 7 win for Sr. Magda FC. Goal scorers Sr. Magda FC: Jamir Cuvalay with 4 goals and Ceth Codrington with 2 goals.

Game 3: Category 11+U

Learning Unlimited Goal Machines vs Hillside Christian: result 10 - 0 (at halftime 5 - 0)

Top scorers Learning Unlimited Goal Machines: Jan Lucas van der Plas with 5 goals, Noah Ledee with 2 goals and 3 assists and Devin Liao with 2 goals.

Game 4: Category 11+U

Sr. Regina Goal Getters vs Dr. Martin Luther King: result 18 – 0 (at halftime 10 - 0)

Top scorers Sr. Regina Goal Getters: Reshawn Eustase with 6 goals and 2 assists and William Mulder with 5 goals and 4 assists. Special mention is made of Daryl Cannegieter who scored 1 goal and made 1 assist.

Game 5: Category Girls 13+U

Hillside Christian All Stars vs Sr. Magda: result 6 – 1 (at halftime 2 - 1)

Top scorer Hillside Christian All Stars: Desreena Boston with 6 goals. Zanzi Brook was instrumental with 3 assists.

Sr. Magda’s goal keeper Kathlyn Vlaun got injured just before halftime and was unable to continue. Sr. Magda did not manage to score in the game, however Hillside Christian made an own goal assisting Sr. Magda in getting rid of the nil.

Game 6: Category 13+U

SXM Schools United 13+U vs Ruby Labega: result 1 – 13 (at halftime 0 - 6)

Goal scorer SXM Schools United 13+U: Gilmar Blackman after an assist from Jean Jacques Craane.

Top scorers Ruby Labega: Ricardo Somers with 6 goals and 2 assists and Malik Marsdin, Eldon Morgan and Jamal Taylor all with 2 goals.

Game 7: Category 9+U

Sr. Magda Energetics vs Sr. Magda Athletics: result 0 – 5 (at halftime 0 -5)

Top scorer Sr. Magda Athletics: Gianni Fer with 2 goals. The other goal scorers were Miguel Gittens, Salim Fleming and Amani Vanterpool all with 1 goal. All the goals were scored in the first half.

Sr. Magda Energetics, after a firm talking to by their coach, improved their game in the second half tremendously as a collective preventing Sr. Magda Athletics from scoring any more goals. However, the team was unable to find the back of the net on the other side of the field.

Game 8: Category 9+U

Learning Unlimited vs Charles Leopold Bell: result 6 – 3 (at halftime 4 - 3)

Top scorer Learning Unlimited: not known at press time.

Goal scorers Charles Leopold Bell: Bernardo Nisbeth-Lopez with 2 goals and 1 assist and Davare Gray with 1 goals and 1 assist.

Game 9: Category 7+U

Leonald Connor vs Learning Unlimited Strikers: result 4 – 2 (at halftime 2 - 0)

Goal scorers Leonald Connor: Anthoney Sulal with 2 goals and Kyle Watson with 1 goal. The fourth goal was an own goal by Learning Unlimited Strikers in the first half.

Top scorer Learning Unlimited Strikers: not known at press time.

Game 10: Category 7+U

Sr. Regina vs Dr. Martin Luther King: official result 2 – 0 (forfeit)

Dr. Martin Luther King did not have enough players to start. A friendly game was played instead in which both teams showed good sportsmanship. The Dr. Martin Luther King players combined with some of the extra Sr. Regina’s players to form a team and they won the friendly game with 2 – 1.

Game 11: Category 7+U

Sr. Magda Greenboys vs Sr. Magda Rockstars: result 2 – 5 (at halftime 0 - 3)

Goal scorers Sr. Magda Greenboys: Elaijah Baker and Jayden Blomont

Top scorer Sr. Magda Rockstars: Hjalmar Cuvalay with 4 goals and 1 assist. The 5th goal was scored by newcomer Jeremiah Telemacque.

Sr. Magda Greenboys was only able to field the minimum required 4 players to play due to sickness and injuries. Sr. Magda Rockstars on the other hand was nearly complete. Both teams still managed to make it an attractive game for the spectators.

Games will continue on Saturday, February 28, 2015.
