WEATHER WATCH: System becomes Tropical Depression. To become 14th Tropical Storm/Hurricane Nate

SINT MAARTEN/CARIBBEAN – The National Hurricane Center (NHC) out of Miami on Wednesday upgraded a low-pressure system near Costa Rica to a Tropical Depression.  This system will bring torrential rains over portions of Central America.

Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued for coastal areas of Nicaragua and Honduras while NHC advises the bay Islands, western Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) to closely monitor the progress of the depression.

ARCHIVE, SINT MAARTEN/CARIBBEAN – The National Hurricane Center (NHC) out of Miami is now monitoring a new weather system that has a 90 per cent chance of becoming the 14th named storm of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season.

This low-pressure system is located in the South Western Caribbean Sea near Costa Rica/Nicaragua.  An Air Force Reserve Reconnaissance Aircraft is scheduled to investigate the weather system on Wednesday afternoon.

The NHC has advised the countries of Nicaragua, Honduras, the Yucatan peninsula (Mexico) and Western Cuba to monitor the progress of the system as watches and warnings could be issued on Wednesday afternoon.
