Tonight through Monday evening: Northeasterly to east northeasterly with a light to moderate breeze of 06 to 15 mph.  

SYNOPSIS:   
The Atlantic high-pressure system will maintain light to moderate winds and a relatively stable atmosphere across the local area. Additionally, the concentration of Saharan dust will diminish during this forecast period. 

Long period swells from Hurricane Larry will cause seas to deteriorate during this forecast period and peak at 10 feet on Monday night. Therefore, high surf and small craft advisories are in effect for St. Maarten until further notice. The strongest wave action will be along the eastern and northern coasts. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise extreme caution.     

STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate to Rough      WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 10 feet      

SPECIAL FEATURES:    

At 5:00 pm, Hurricane Larry was located about 830 miles east of St. Maarten. Larry is moving toward the northwest near 13 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 125 mph with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast over the next few days.
On its current forecast track, Hurricane Larry does not pose a direct threat to St. Maarten.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor this system and update the public accordingly.
