Chain snatcher confesses. Victims who didn't file a report requested to contact detective department

PHILIPSBURG - From the beginning of 2014 numerous complaints came in to the Police Department regarding their gold chain being snatched from their neck by an unknown person who will run away after committing this act. Recently, a suspect with the initials R.G.E. (24), who was arrested by police suspected of three “chain snatching” cases, confessed to having committed these offences.

He was placed in police custody for further investigation. As the investigation continued the suspect confessed to have committed six other offences bringing the total so far to nine cases.

Most of these cases were committed in the Philipsburg and Cole Bay area. This investigation is still ongoing and the Detective Department is requesting anyone who became a victim of this type of criminal act and has not yet filed an official report to contact the Detective Department.
