SINT MAARTEN (ST. PETERS) - The Sint Maarten Youth Parliament held its Introductory Leadership Training Day on Monday February 12, 2018. Twenty young persons participated, including two representatives of the Youth Territorial Council of Saint Martin.
The Training Day included a workshop on Interpersonal Communications with Roy Cotton Jr., followed by a seminar on Leadership Qualities. The activities included brain storming sessions and team building exercises. All participants expressed appreciation for the sessions, and eagerly anticipate the next training day.
The Sint Maarten Youth Parliament will close out its recruitment process this week, during its General Membership Meeting on Saturday February 17 at 12:45 pm at the Rupert I Maynard Youth Community Center.
The program focus for 2018 is ‘Fostering Sustainable Development’. Special focus will be placed on the understanding and application of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the post-Irma rebuilding process.
The Youth Parliament will continue to foster greater cooperation with the CTJ and other regional youth parliaments. In addition, they look forward to participating in an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Norway during the summer.
